My name is Paweł Skrzypiec. I was born on June 20, 1982, in the small village of Paszyn, near Nowy Sącz in southern Poland. Renowned for its remarkable woodcarving tradition, Paszyn has inspired generations of artisans, and growing up in such an environment profoundly shaped my passion for woodcarving and traditional craftsmanship.

Paszyn became known throughout Poland in the 1960s thanks to Father Edward Nitka, who encouraged local residents to discover and develop their artistic talents through woodcarving. Over the years, the village grew into one of Poland's most important centers of folk woodcarving, with works created here finding their way into museums, galleries, and private collections around the world. Being raised in this unique artistic community gave me a deep appreciation for the beauty of hand-carved wood and the value of preserving traditional craftsmanship.

Today, I continue that tradition in my own workshop, creating handcrafted wooden sculptures, relief carvings, and decorative pieces inspired by fairy tales, folklore, history, and the natural world.

Every sculpture begins with a carefully selected piece of wood and is carved entirely by hand using traditional tools and techniques. I do not strive for factory-perfect uniformity. Instead, I embrace the subtle chisel marks and natural character of the wood, believing that these details give every piece its own personality and soul.

The greatest joy in my work comes from bringing stories to life. Whether carving a whimsical gnome, a woodland animal, or a figure inspired by old legends, my goal is always the same—to create sculptures that evoke emotion, spark imagination, and become cherished for generations.

I believe that a handcrafted wood carving is far more than a decoration. It is a timeless object, created with patience, respect for the material, and dedication to the craft. Each piece carries a part of the artist's hands and heart, making it truly one of a kind.
